What are fire barriers
The purpose of passive fire protection is to contain the fire in the event that one should break out. There are various systems and structures which should be put in place to help prevent a fire from spreading throughout a building. Fire barriers are just one of these and should be placed within the existing structure of a property, such as within walls, floors and ceilings as they will help a safe evacuation take place.
Designed to sub-divide sections of a building, fire barriers help to contain fires to a single part of a building. By restricting the flow of heat from where the fire starts, occupants of a building are given valuable extra time to evacuate to safe areas.
There are different types of fire barriers available, including:
- modular fire barriers
- firewalls
- fire partitions
All of these are crucial elements to a building’s fire protection plan and will help to contain a fire as much as possible.
Here at EA-RS Passive Fire Protection we understand the importance of fire barriers and will help a building owner / manager determine which kind of barrier they need. As well as this, our team of qualified passive fire protection experts will be able to carry out any maintenance work required to ensure the passive fire protection systems in place meet the latest fire safety standards.
