Fire Door Inspection
Fire protection equipment is an essential element to keeping a building safe from the threat of a fire. As such it should be regularly checked to ensure it is all functioning properly and ready to use. Fire doors are no different to smoke alarms and fire extinguishers in this aspect and should be checked regularly.
Fire doors help make up a secure passive fire protection plan and they are essential in helping protect the occupants of a building if a fire breaks out. Any slight alteration to the set-up of a fire door can prevent it from performing as intended.
Article 17 of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (RRO/FSO) makes it a legal requirement to certify that fire doors are correctly installed and adequately maintained in order for them to be fit for purpose. A fire door inspection should be carried out every six months to ensure that they will be able to reduce the rate at which a fire can spread.
The safety of employees is critical to a business, and this can be compromised if a fire door inspection is not carried out often enough. Here at EA-RS Passive Fire Protection we will be able to create and carry out a set plan for each building we inspect. Our aim is to give people those precious minutes to escape as well as limiting the damage a fire can do to a building.
We offer a comprehensive survey and reporting procedure for existing buildings and also provide planning and design packages for new projects to make sure your fire doors meet legal obligations. If you would like to find out more please contact us now.
